We have an exciting opportunity to join the Nob Hill family at our newest location in Santa Clara! Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and provide leadership and training to all deli employees.
  2. Develop and implement a continual cross training program.
  • Continually monitor all employee performance and coach where appropriate, in concert with the Store Management when necessary.
  • Monitor all new hire sign-off sheets for sanitation, chemicals and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and store policies and procedures (and thus compliance with all state and federal laws applicable to this industry).
  • Conduct all new hire orientation training for employees entering the bakery departments to ensure a professional well trained workforce.
  • Identify and monitor all on-going training needs and coordinate scheduling of these classes.
  • Identify and coach all management and prospective management candidates to provide a pool of qualified management for future growth needs.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to review ads, sales plans, promotions, labor, department safety, etc.
  • Management department scheduling to achieve maximum productivity.
  1. Customer relations
  • Provide 100% WCS to our customers through example, supervision and training.
  • Ensure that our customer service principles are being maintained at all times.
  • Empower team to resolve customer issues on their own. Handle customer concerns and requests in an expedient manner. 
  • Review all shopping reports with team and coach appropriately.
  1. Sales and profitability
  • Review and discuss weekly sales and labor projections with team.
  • Maintain exciting shopping experience through demos, sampling, etc.
  • Implement aggressive merchandising programs to achieve planned sales and gross margin.
  • Coordinate weekly cross merchandising with Director of Visual Merchandising.
  • Monitor all inventory levels to minimize all inventory investments without affecting sales.
  • Develop strategies to eliminate excess inventory.
  • Develop a cull and spoils utilization program integrating products from all Food Service departments.
  • Monitor all components of production management.
  • Monitor all components of markdown management.
  • Monitor and train all employees on portion control.
  • Review P&Ls with team and develop strategies for bottom line enhancement.
  • Oversee and assist team on all receiving reports, WDR, 171 and Raley’s Statement functions.
  • Assist with inventory procedures to ensure accurate and timely inventories.
  • Be aware of and communicate new trends in the industry and competitive activity.
  1. Department conditions
  • Maintain the highest standards in housekeeping to maintain a clean safe department that is appealing to you and our customers.
  • Monitor all components of presentation, i.e. merchandising, in-stock conditions, facing, cleaning, etc through detail management.
  • Develop and monitor a replenishment program to insure 100% in stock at all times.
  • Coordinate seasonal displays, signing, and decorating.
  • Create weekly interdepartmental merchandising events.
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, and date codes.
  • Coordinate all scope tags, bonus buy, ad and shelf signs.
  1. Safety and Sanitation
  • Maintain all equipment in maximum operational condition.
  • Ensure all safety programs and procedures are followed by personnel according to company guidelines of 95% compliance or better. Make your department the safest place to work and shop.
  • Monitor sanitation practices during the day, correct and coach where appropriate.
  • Review and correct all issues associated with inspections.
  • Monitor all components of the HAACP program.
  • Monitor all sweep sheets, temperature logs, etc.
  • Assist Store Director and Asst. Managers with self-inspections.
  • Monitor all sign-off sheets for sanitation, chemical and equipment safety.
  1. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to drive sales, reduce losses, and properly staff the department
  • Exceptional leadership skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully delegate and develop team members. 
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and react to a variety of situations at one time.
  • Promoting great customer service, while offering our customers the the best products available. 
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software including spreadsheet applications.

 This position requires the following physical abilities:
