The Distribution Center Driver is responsible for operating a tractor pulling a 50 ft. trailer to deliver grocery products to the Retail Stores. The Driver also transports empty pallets, baled cardboard, recyclable produce, and equipment for repair from the Retail Store to the Distribution Center. The Driver completes a vehicle safety inspection and prepares the tractor for departure, enters information into Cadec module, hooks tractor to loaded trailer, completes safety inspection of trailer, checks load, drives tractor pulling trailer to Retail Store, unloads trailer using electric pallet jack at the Retail Store and possibly picks up merchandise from vendors (back hauls).
Pay rate: $25.10/hr.
Drivers work 10 hours per day, 4 days per week. Work hours comply with the Revised Hours-of-Service Regulations set forth in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under the U.S. Dept. of Transportation (D.O.T.) and Title 13 within the State of California. Drivers are classified as Interstate if they drive between states (and comply with D.O.T.) or Intrastate if they drive within the state (and comply with Title 13). Interstate drivers may drive 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty but may not drive beyond 11 hours in a 14-hour duty period. Intrastate drivers are permitted to drive 12 hours per shift with total on-duty hours of 15 with 8 hours off-duty time required between shifts. Drivers may be on-duty 80 hours in 8 consecutive days. Shifts and routes are open for bid by seniority, annually. However, a driver may bid two additional times per year if other routes become available. Routes start at 10:00 p.m. Sunday for what is considered a Monday route. A local route may consist of one long run of 100+ miles round trip or 2 to 4 short runs less than 100 miles.
The majority of routes are local while some are lay over routes requiring the driver to sleep over. The Distribution Center delivers as far North as Yreka, as far South as Greenfield, as far East as Elko, Nevada, and as far West as Monterey.
Must hold a valid Class A California Driver License.
Must complete Raley’s safety driving test and certification requirements.
Employment is contingent upon passing a drug screening test and passing a pre-employment physical ability test consistent with the physical demands of the job.
