Compensation

The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonably expects to pay for the position. The actual compensation offered to the selected individual will depend on their geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other bona fide factors.

Expected Minimum Pay Rate

USD $67,300.00/Yr.

Expected Maximum Pay Rate

USD $90,000.00/Yr.

Responsibilities

The Retirement Plans Specialist provides essential services and analysis of Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit and Retiree Medical Plans for Raley’s and subsidiary companies. The Retirement Plans Specialist focuses on assisting team members to make the transition from working to retirement through plan administration, pension calculations and distributions, retirement education materials, and group and individual consultation. This role carries out plan administration responsibilities in partnership with third-party Analysts and the internal team. This job classification requires basic knowledge of ERISA, applicable sections of the Internal Revenue Code and Department of Labor Regulations; and a thorough understanding of plan documents, plan administrative and operational requirements.

 

  • You will administer the operation of the Pension, 401(k) Retirement Savings and Raley’s Retiree Medical Plans in conjunction with Third-Party Analysts (TPAs).
  • You will communicate in writing and verbally with plan participants of varying audience sizes regarding plan information needs.
  • You will manage Retiree Medical Plans including: determining eligibility, enrolling and terminating retirees and spouses, processing premium payments, conducting annual open enrollment, calculating and tracking reimbursement account balances, authorizing reimbursements, and paying vendor invoices.
  • You will coordinate with HRIS team to prepare data transmissions and census files for use in actuarial valuation, audit, nondiscrimination testing and participant statements--ensuring participants’ weekly deferrals are transmitted accurately and timely to TPA.
  • You will represent Raley’s with external auditors during annual Retirement Plans audit.
  • You will make administrative, procedural and plan design recommendations to department leadership--seeking out opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • You will cultivate productive working relationships with TPAs and monitors performance
  • You will assist the Retirement, HRIS, Compensation and Benefits teams with initiatives and projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Must Haves

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree in accounting, finance or human resources or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.  Three (3+) or more years of increasingly responsible experience administering employee retirement plans.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Technical knowledge of employee retirement plan policies, practices and applicable laws.
  • Familiarity with defined benefits, defined contribution plans and ERISA regulations.
  • Strong spreadsheet application skills with MS Excel.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to apply broad knowledge of professional principles and practices in employee retirement plan administration and work independently.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork.
  • Ability to conduct analysis efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to act in a responsive manner to customer inquiries and requests: escalates the more difficult matters as necessary.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to make persuasive presentations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate various computer systems and software programs.

 

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  •  Completion or coursework toward certification in retirement plans administration is preferred (ASPPA or CEBS) but not required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

  • Sitting; frequent sedentary work.
  • Telephone usage to communicate with internal and external customers, and vendors.
  • Viewing computer monitor; average ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare documents, enter data into computer system and read reports from computer monitor.
  • Keyboarding; use of fingers to make small movements such as typing and mouse usage.
