The Senior Manager of Creative guides all projects and is responsible for the overall quality of work produced by the creative department. The Senior Manager of Creative will conceptualize and manage execution of Raley’s Brand Story and Style Guidelines for companywide use, ensuring that the look, feel and tone of all brand assets are consistent and correctly utilized across multiple mediums. The incumbent possesses the ability to concept swiftly and energize and inspire teams to manifest ideas while creating and executing a comprehensive brand strategy to meet quarterly and overall business goals and objectives.   


  • Responsible for the development and execution of brand voice through collaboration and management of in-house and external creative design teams. Oversees creative services budget and processes.  
  • Strategically push the creative integrity of all campaigns and deliverables to completion while meeting the business objectives with engaging on-trend creative. 
  • Drive, own, and iterate on the brand visual identity and photo direction for multi-channel campaigns that touch all areas of the customer experience—including e-comm, retail, email marketing, digital advertising, video, social and more. 
  • Leverage cultural and consumer insights to ensure all creative work is strategy-led and positions Raley’s as a thought leader, values driven and innovative brand. 


Oversees agency pitches and proposals and work closely with Media Manager and Creative Services Project Manager to meet campaign deadlines  

  • Meets with executive management to explain campaign strategies and solutions 
  • Demonstrates the ability to push the creative bounds using various mediums  
  • Works closely with multidisciplinary project teams, particularly IT 
  • Work closely with private brands team to expand existing line as well as develop new private label packaging. 
  • Works with internal communications team to ensure brand voice and guidelines are adhered to  
  • Ensures visual communication and brand standards are met 


  1. Leads creative and content strategy execution and exploration across all marketing touchpoints.  
  • Guides and develops creative strategy using copy, storyboards, mood boards, and visual form.   
  • Manages the execution of creative assets on location or within the photo and video studios and oversees the development of shot lists and storyboards.  
  • Responsible for the creation of compelling stories across mediums and a myriad of projects and products via in-house and agency creative teams.  
  • Stays abreast of industry and competitor customer communication campaigns and tools  
  • Performs other responsibilities, as they are developed/defined 


  1. Directs operational and fiscal activities of assigned team and creates a positive experience for creative team members as a servant leader. 
  • Develops department plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities. Works within department and cross-functionally to meet the strategic plans and principles for the function. 
  • Interviews, selects, evaluates and recognizes team member results and actions.  Is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own function.

  • Provides team with opportunities for on-going self-development.   
  • Manages operational and fiscal activities of a department to include staffing levels, budgets and/or financial goals. 
  • Mentors agencies, staff and production personnel to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency of the team. 



  • Bachelor’s degree in design or relevant arts  
  • 10+ years corporate or agency experience in design and/or art direction 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing creative assets for multiple channels 
  • Retail experience a must, grocery retail experience preferred 
  • Experience in managing packaging design and understanding of packaging production & printing process and familiar with FDA requirements. 


  • MAC OS based hardware/software systems  
  • Understanding of presentation materials including software applications and light production for mock-ups. 
  • Creative Software: Adobe Creative Suite, Capture One 
  • Other Software: Microsoft Office,Wrike, ProofHQ 
  • General advertising, marketing, media, TV and radio terminology and process knowledge. 
  • Knowledge of technical solutions and troubleshooting techniques relevant to advertising and graphic design field.  
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with visual design process and principles.

  • Demonstrate flexibility to adjust to rapidly changing business needs, requirements and schedules

  • Proficiency in social media advertising tools and best practices 
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language fluently 
  • Proven leader of creative teams  
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform and remain organized under pressure and tight deadlines  
  • Ability to lead others, communicate clear instructions, and have a definite point of view 
  • Flawless attention to detail and deadlines
