The Brand Content Specialist creates brand stories aimed at inspiring and educating Raley’s team members and customers while boosting Raley’s presence across all digital platforms including email, web and social. This role is vital to the brand, articulating it’s purpose and mission of inclusivity and positivity to internal and external audiences. This role oversees a proactive social media content and execution strategy aligned with broader marketing strategy.  The brand content specialist manages the company’s content calendar, managing the strategy for a wide-variety of channels including internal communications, advertising, websites, and social media with a heavy focus on compelling content that is search engine optimized, analyzing  data and monitoring trends,  reporting back to the team on ways to ensure that our ongoing brand content strategy is data-driven.  Must balance delivering content for back-end search engine optimization and developing content for people, appealing to—and persuading—Raley’s consumers and potential consumers.


Cross Channel Content Strategy

  • Creates and manages the content calendar and strategy for execution across all branded platforms including website, traditional and digital campaigns, paid and organic social.
  • Acts as thought leader and partner to internal teams. Managing and advising the social media strategy for day-to-day maintenance and execution as well as long term content plans and strategies.
  • Ensures brand touchpoints present compelling and cohesive messaging that ladder up to the broader company and marketing strategy.
  • Manages content creation and brand stories across digital, social and web channels that include the right keywords to push Raley’s platforms to the top of search engine results. Develops and publishes content in Wordpress. Writes meta descriptions, tailors the description to include the appropriate keywords and keep the character count within a specific range.
  • Provides copywriting when necessary for multiple platforms.
  • Proofreads and corrects grammar errors of other team members and of own work product to ensure clarity and accuracy of final content

Cross Functional Collaboration 

  • Works with internal communications to develop compelling content to raise team member awareness and engagement.
  • Meets with various stakeholders, both external and internal to develop branded content marketing plans.
  • Contributes creative solutions to refine existing content and contributes to the education and development of a consistent brand voice for the entire team. Attends and schedules meetings as necessary.

Vendor Management

  • In collaboration with the PR team, develops and maintains relationships with the social media influencers and bloggers for brand social edia content and strategy.
  • Works with external creative agencies to refine and inform on asset deliverables as needed.
  • manages SEO agency to produce quarterly review and audits as needed for website.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Advertising, Marketing or Journalism with a minimum of five (5) years in content strategy or development for a brand in an ad agency or in-house creative/marketing department or the equivalent knowledge and experience.

Required Knowledge

  • Expert copywriting for various platforms
  • Proofing and editing expertise
  • Knowledge of best practices in SEO writing for social, digital and web
  • Understanding of grocery and retail business.
  • Knowledge of Wordpress, Apple Mac and PC applications and OS


  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to write with speed and quick iteration in order to refine the message and align to the brand voice.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication acumen
  • Accuracy in proofreading and ability to correct grammar errors with care and compassion.
  • Ability to lead others and build supportive working relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and meet designated deadlines. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency
  • Retail and food experience highly desired but not required if you’re a creative problem solver who can adapt quickly to our voice and tone
