  • Overview

    Un      Under limited supervision, to provide electrical, mechanical and building maintenance for the production bakery complex. 

                  Employees in this job classification provide electrical, structural, plumbing, mechanical, chiller, boiler, HVAC and refrigeration                        maintenance services. This job classification requires strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, electromechanical, PLCs,

                  pneumatic, conveyor systems, welding, fabrication and air conditioning systems and the ability to work with maintenance staff.                                                                                                      

     

    Responsibilities

     

    1. *Making repairs to Commercial & Industrial mixing and baking systems. Single and Three Phase electrical. High and Low voltage systems, DC and AC controls, gear motors, direct drive and chain drive components and VFD’s. Make electrical repairs including changing lamps and ballasts. Install and remove electrical devices (i.e., switches, receptacles, and light fixtures).  Install, remove and relocate electrical supply circuitry by installing conduit, conductors and making all terminations.  Monitor and maintain main switch gear and distribution panels and electrical rooms.  Audit power usage.  Monitor and maintain generators, UPS and emergency electrical systems.  Troubleshoot and repair or make recommendations for repair of all electrical system failures or malfunctions.
    2. *Make structural repairs and fabrications. Knowledge of hand tools, cutting torches, welding and solder techniques and practices.
    3. *Monitor and maintain plumbing supply and waste system including repairing or replacing sink faucets, supply lines, waste lines, disposals, urinal and closet flush valves, drinking fountains, water softeners and water heaters. Water ph controls and correction, pump and lift stations and inspects fire suppression systems and values on a routine basis.
    4. *Monitor pressure and temperature of mechanical equipment.  Using existing building environment control system, (a) monitor zones for proper equipment performance and correct zone temperatures,  (b) adjust set points and calibrate T-Stats to maintain comfort zone temperatures in all areas, (c) maintain proper air balance and air flow, (d) inspect duct work and make repairs, and (e) inspect and maintain all supply and exhaust fans and enclosures.
    5. *Participates with management in obtaining cost estimates for maintenance, service or repair on all electrical and mechanical systems. As directed by the supervisor, be involved in the     maintenance, service or repair of all electrical and mechanical systems.   Repair and Calibration of metal detectors, scales and automated flour deliver systems. Inventory controls systems, PMS systems and closed circuit camera systems.
    6. Attends weekly staff meetings and safety meetings with supervisor.
    7. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or G.E.D., completed (2) years of technical training classes, or five (5) years related electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration experience and/or training.
    • Familiarity with 3 phase and single phase power systems and controls.
    • Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives and Gear motors.
    • Basic PC skills and use and knowledge of hand tools.
    • Ability to read schematics and blueprints
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet timelines.
    • Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with all customers and co-workers.

           Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

    • Continuously lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling and twisting.
    • Intermittent use of hands and arms to grasp, push, pull and reach.

     

           WORK ENVIRONMENT

          Worked is performed in a food production manufacturing setting in a 24/7 production environment.  The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places and low         to moderately high temperatures.  The         noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.           Occasional work required on roof or exterior of buildings during inclement weather.
